SEEING PEOPLE THROUGH GOD'S EYES

I heard this week, “You will never look into the eyes of someone that isn’t loved by God”. And it was just the reminder I needed to change my attitude.

I have felt so caught up lately in a runt of misunderstanding- wondering why I feel as though I am doing so much to try and better what I see broken, while it seems that others are oblivious. It causes great disparity in the way I look at others to judge them for “not appreciating” what I do. But the truth is, while I might see them as needing repair, God sees someone who is working for His kingdom in various ways.

As I’ve come closer to God, I find myself feeling more broken than before. Not because the struggles are consuming me, but rather my eyes have been opened to see greater need for healing in God’s kingdom. I thank God for this gift each day- and I plan to write more on this topic later- but I bring it up now because I want to see people’s goodness in this same way. I want my eyes to be open to the way God sees people, so that I can respond in the way God loves them. To think and react like Him. We all serve His mission with our individual gifts, which don’t always align. While someone may seem broken beyond love, falling into bad habits, or ignorant- God stills loves them. And I should too.

Scripture confirms it:
> “A new command I give to you: As I have loved you, you must love one another. By this, everyone will know that you are my disciples” John 13:34 (NIV)
> 1 Peter 4:8
> Ephesians 4:32
